HLFT Wins $18-plus million verdict after 6-Week Products Liability Trial
Following a six-week trial involving over two dozen witnesses, on June 29, 2022 a jury awarded our client, King County, over $18 million as a result of defective piping installed throughout the county jail. The case spanned four years and ultimately resulted in the County proving that the product manufacturer and sellers engaged in unfair and deceptive acts in distributing pipe that suffered from manufacturing defects that caused it to prematurely fail after installation. The trial result also allows for an award of the County’s attorneys’ fees. HLFT partners Randall Thomsen and Ariel Martinez tried the case with support from Erica Iverson, Tim Leyh, Tyler Farmer, Joan Radoll, Marissa Solis, and Florine Fujita.
