Harrigan Leyh Wins Dismissal of Oso Landslide Claims
Working closely with members of the Snohomish County Prosecutor’s office, HLFT attorneys Tim Leyh, Randall Thomsen, and Kristin Ballinger obtained a judgment dismissing all claims against the County in four consolidated cases arising out of the tragic 2014 Oso Landslide. The case is believed to be the largest wrongful death case in state history. HLFT’s defense team defeated a complex range of statutory and common law claims asserted on behalf of 41 plaintiffs. Through rigorous discovery and a series of summary judgment motions, HLFT obtained dismissal of all plaintiffs’ claims shortly before trial. HLFT will continue to represent Snohomish County through the appellate process in this important case.
