Chambers USA Again Recognizes HLFT: honors four of its partners among the top commercial litigators in the state
In its 2019 guide, Chambers, one of the oldest and most respected lawyer ratings firms, ranked HLFT among the top handful of practices in Washington in the category of Litigation; General Commercial. Four of the firm’s partners – Arthur W. Harrigan, Jr., Timothy Leyh, Kristin Ballinger, and Tyler Farmer – also received individual recognitions.
Chambers has ranked HLFT among the top Washington litigation firms for well over a decade. This year, Chambers cited the firm’s “extensive experience in civil litigation” and noted clients’ feedback:
“They collaborate extremely well, yet are not afraid to debate openly among each other to battle-test ideas. Through this process, which I witnessed several times, ideas and arguments would be battle-tested and refined. I knew that they were working on other cases as well, yet they always made me feel like I was their top priority and gave me their undivided attention at all times of the day and all days of the week. I’d imagine that they treat all their clients the same way.”
“The team is really top-notch. They work in a closely knit manner, demonstrate a high level of competency and sophistication and they are into concrete facts and details. Their defense strategy was based on hard-core facts and evidence. This is a high-quality legal team which delivers results. They are highly intelligent and they handled every aspect of the lawsuit with grace and diplomacy.”
Once again Chambers recognized Art Harrigan and Tim Leyh with individual honors, writing:
Arthur Harrigan is described by sources as a “local Seattle legend” and “one of the premier litigators in the Pacific Northwest.” A source says: “He has a remarkable gift for distillation, for bringing the simple things a case turns on out of a situation, or identification of salient defense points for a client.” According to commentators, Harrigan has “an extensive litigation resume that includes handling some of the most complex and important litigation matters in this area,” with “results that speak volumes.” He is routinely sought after by individuals, companies and government entities for representation in all manner of business disputes and civil lawsuits.
Timothy Leyh is a “terrific strategist who cuts to the heart of things in a remarkable way and is excellent at arguing in court,” according to a commentator. A client recalls how he “connected well with the jury, and drew upon numerous complex facts to tell a persuasive narrative to them.” Leyh provides his broad trial expertise to clients such as municipal entities as well as businesses.
